As originally described by Lloyd (1966b) on the basis of animals observed in the Southeastern United States and in Missouri, the male emitted flashes exclusively in pairs like other consanguineus group fireflies. Photinus macdermotti, or Father Mac's firefly, is a species of firefly in the family Lampyridae. It is found in North America.
