WebFibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) is a rare blood vessel disorder in which some of the strong, flexible cells of arteries are replaced with cells that are more fibrous. Fibrous cells are less strong and also less flexible. This change in composition of the arteries leads to their becoming stiffer and more prone to damage. WebThe Fibromuscular Dysplasia Society of America (FMDSA) is a not-for-profit patient advocacy organization working towards better diagnosis and treatment of Fibromuscular Dysplasia (FMD). We do this by building awareness of FMD, funding research activities, providing support and educating patients and the health care community.
